The Anatomy of the Musculoskeletal System learning program is designed as an introduction to the anatomy of the system of bones, joints, and muscles that shape the human body and give it its strength and flexibility. The program begins by examining the skeletal system, including different types of bones and joints, as well as the cartilage that connects them. It then moves on to the muscular system. Both microscopic and macroscopic features of all of these structures are explained. In addition to general principles of bone and muscle structure, the major bones and muscles of the body are reviewed specifically.
Upon completion of this learning program you will be able to::
Recall the functions of the skeletal system.
List and describe the tissues of the skeletal system.
Identify the major bones of the axial skeleton.
Identify the major bones of the appendicular skeleton.
List and describe the types of joints in the skeletal system.
Recall the functions of the muscular system.
List and describe the features of muscle tissue.
Identify the major muscles and muscle groups of the body.
